Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif allowed the insult of the country’s Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem and used him for politics on Thursday night, Indian government sources have pointed out.
a person sitting next to Sharif while they watch Nadeem’s performance on television congratulates the PM.
“This is your mission because you have given the opportunity to him,” the person says to Sharif.
The video has gone viral on social media and has led to the Pakistan government receiving flak for its “feudal mindset”.
Nadeem gave Pakistan its first Olympic gold medal in 32 years, setting a new Games record with a throw of 92.97 metres. Before this, Pakistan had never won an individual gold medal at the Olympics. Its three previous golds, in 1960, 1968 and 1984, all came in field hockey.
